Well the North Island and South Island events have been and gone! At last our sport has got going again after such a long break, so how did it all go? Some very familiar names in the North Island event, particularly amongst the top place-getters; the Te Awamutu weather made the course interesting that’s for sure! In Ashburton the weather was a lot kinder but due to having less experienced competitors, the winning times were a bit slower. Full results, photos and a video of the South Island event are on the UFBS website, here.
On the positive side the Nationals date, Saturday 29 October is out! We look forward to a really great event in Ashburton, the first National event in three years. Hopefully in 2012 the UFBA will be able to run the three NZ events closer together as a FCC season, without the Rugby World Cup in the way this should be doable.
See you on the track!
The Challenge is back on! The North Island event will be run in Te Awamutu on Saturday 26 March with the South Island event to be held on Saturday 9 April at Ashburton. Current plan is for the NZ Nationals to be held later in the year, around September perhaps. See the UFBA website for details and registration.
Due to the September Canterbury earthquate it was decided to cancel the 2010 National Firefighter Combat Challenge that was due to be held in Christchurch on 02 October. The logistics of holding the event are just too difficult as Christchurch City recovers from the disaster. For more information see the UFBA website here: UFBA Notification.
